Greenpeace Global Mobile Survey 2016

In August 2016 Greenpeace East Asia commissioned Ipsos MORI to conduct a survey in 6 countries or regions around the issue of mobile phone recycling and repair. Research was carried out online among a nationally representative quota sample of c. 1,000 adults in each country. It was conducted between July and August 2016, among adults aged 18-75 in USA, adults aged 16-70 in Germany, 16-60 in Russia, 18-59 in Mexico, 18-55 in South Korea, and 18-50 in China. Data have been weighted to the known population profile in each country.

Amongst other insights the survey showed that consumers globally believe mobile phone manufacturers are releasing too many new models and were most likely to say that mobile phone manufacturers should be responsible for providing people with the means to recycle their phones, while 4 in 5 surveyed said that it was important that a new smartphone can be easily repaired if damaged.
